Each spring the Wilson Whirligig Festival supports a group of volunteers from the Chamber

of Commerce's Dynamic Leadership program. The Class of 2010 organizes a 5K run fundraiser to benefit Buddy Ball Wilson's disabilities baseball team for kids.

The Wilson County Youth Athletic Association will kick off it's Buddy Ball season in April. The goal of the program is to give disabled children in the commuintiy the opportunity to enjoy the great game of baseball in a postive environment.
Batter-Up Buddy Ball includes children with a wide vareity of handicaps such as autism, brain injuries, impaired hearing or vision, those that use aides and those in wheelchairs. Every child plays!

 

Buddy Ball currently uses an elementary school baseball field. The goal is to build a specially designed field for those with disabilities. The field, the base line, even the stands are customized so all children are able to play. This "Build the Field Dream" is only made possible through donations.

The Whirli-Run needs approximately 30 volunteers for a smooth race. We enjoy having friends, family and supporters of the Buddy Ball program and Wilson Residents. 

Volunteer form is provided at bottom of the page.  Forms are due by Friday, May 11 to receive a volunteer t-shirt.
