Friday - November 3 - Celebration of the Gig! Join us for an evening of celebrating the joy of the Wilson Whirligig Festival, the innovation of the Whirligig Park Project and the creative genius of Vollis Simpson.

307 Barnes Street S. 6 pm - 8 pm The festival kicks off on Friday night with a free preview celebration sponsored by the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park Project (VSWPP). Light refreshments will be offered along with a chance to look around and see how the restoration has been going. During the festival, guided tours will be offered, a historical movie shown and lots of activities planned on Douglas Street, right outside the warehouse, during the festival. The Tams To hear it, you might think you just stepped into Motown. To breathe it, you smell a tropical breeze. To feel it, you let the rhythm grasp your body and whirl it into motion. To see it, is like an extravaganza of light and energy. But to experience it, you must say it …. “I want THE TAMS”!! The Holiday BandThis band has been performing for nearly 21 years. Based in North Carolina the group has played dates in 11 states. Notable performances include The Lincoln Center in New York, The House Of Blues in Myrtle Beach and Grove Park Inn in Asheville NC.The band has been voted group of the year as well as many other awards in Carolina beach music. Mark Roberts was born into a musical family in Georgetown, SC . He was inspired with music by both his mother and father. Mark grew up with a strong passion for Rock & Roll, Blues, and Motown music, all of which inspired him to be the singer that he is today. His passion for songwriting also stems from these influences. Renowned musicians such as Mark Farner, Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Hall, Michael McDonald, Bobby Kimball, Daryl Hall, James Taylor, Elton John and Steve Perry each gave Mark a deep desire for focus, range, and style.
This is a multi-piece band with a strong female lead vocal, Shawnette Baity, playing R&B and soul music.
